## App Selector

### Overview

#### Description

The C18 POS screen can be positioned to Home (Cashier facing) or Flip (Customer facing) and can be orientated to render applications in landscape or portrait orientations at Home and Flip positions.

This hardware capability facilitates running multiple cashier and customer facing applications in portrait and landscape orientations.

### Using the App Selector

#### Home Position

The Point of Sale (POS) is the default application on home position when software is manually installed. After manual install, if application is changed to [Self Checkout (SCO)](/feature-references/feature-references/self-checkout.md), then SCO becomes the default application on home position and even after the next [auto upgrade (AU)](/feature-references/feature-references/auto-upgrade.md) SCO appears on home position as the default application.

The latest selected application becomes the default application on that position and is retained across [AU](/feature-references/feature-references/auto-upgrade.md).

**Countdown App Selector**

If Point Of Sale application is default application on home position and if the screen is in flip position running Self Checkout, when you change the screen back to home position, you get the following screen:

![](/files/f32e75e15695c0fd2c1e25e8027fb4af42c13d17)

{% hint style="info" %}
The countdown starts from 60 seconds. If both home and flip positions are running the same application, this countdown app selector does not appear.
{% endhint %}

#### Flip Position

The [Self Checkout (SCO)](/feature-references/feature-references/self-checkout.md) is the default application on flip position when software is manually installed. After manual install, if application is changed to Point Of Sale (POS), then POS becomes the default application on flip position and even after the next [auto upgrade (AU)](/feature-references/feature-references/auto-upgrade.md) POS appears on flip position as the default application.

The latest selected application becomes the default application on that position and is retained across [AU](/feature-references/feature-references/auto-upgrade.md).
