Prior to connecting the equipment, thoroughly read and understand all instructions. Do not proceed with the installation until all instructions and warnings have been understood. 2. Ensure that there are no missing or defective parts do not use any defective parts. Verifone holds no liability for damage or injury resulting from improper installation, misuse, or failure to adhere to safety instructions, which may void the warranty. 3. Use only peripherals recommended by Verifone to avoid the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury. 4. Avoid using the device near water. 5. Do not place the unit on an unstable cart, stand, or table, as it may lead to serious personal injury or damage to the equipment. 6. Avoid using the device in areas with excess heat, dust, humidity, moisture, caustic chemicals, or oils. 7. Keep the device away from direct sunlight and anything that radiates heat, such as a stove or a motor. 8. Do not use the device outdoors. ## Periodic Inspection 1. Regularly check the product to ensure ongoing safety. 2. Inspect the device daily for signs of tampering. ## Electrical Considerations 1. Avoid using this product during electrical storms. 2. Disconnect the device from its POS terminal before cleaning. {% hint style="warning" %} The device is not waterproof or dustproof and is intended for indoor use only. Likewise, avoid using this product during thunderstorms causing power cuts. The carton box includes the following components as part of the Victa Full Feature Base product: * Victa Full Feature Base * 2 Screws
{% endstep %} {% step %} #### Remove all the paper wrapping from the device and its components. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Preserve the shipping carton and packing materials for potential future repacking or relocation of the device. {% endstep %} {% endstepper %} {% hint style="danger" %} Do not use a tampered or damaged unit. The interface used is USB-C to provide power to the Victa Full Feature Base. {% hint style="info" %} Always use the recommended, compatible power supply to avoid charging issues or potential damage to the device. {% endhint %} {% hint style="warning" %} To protect against electrical surges or lightning strikes, consider using a certified surge protector. *Pour vous protéger contre les surtensions électriques ou la foudre, pensez à utiliser un parasurtenseur certifié.* {% endhint %} {% hint style="warning" %} Using an incorrectly rated power supply may lead to potential damage to the device or cause it not to function as specified. Before proceeding with troubleshooting, it is crucial to verify that the power supply being used to power the device aligns with the specified requirements detailed on the bottom of the device. For comprehensive power supply specifications, refer to the "Specifications" section. Verifone recommends the PWR572-001-xx-A power supply. Once powered on, the device's display and the indicator lights illuminate, confirming that the unit is receiving power. {% endstep %} {% endstepper %}
### Victa Full Feature Base Connection Modes The handset maintains a distinct base control channel. When docked, the Victa Portable/Mobile communicates over USB. When undocked, it switches automatically to Bluetooth connection. Also, there are 2 ways of using the Victa Full Feature Base. {% stepper %} {% step %} #### The grab and go mode can be achieved by location pins. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### View the grab and go configuration

{% endstep %} {% endstepper %} ## Secure Pairing Options The Victa Full Feature Base supports USB-authenticated pairing system. ### Entering and Leaving Base radio area Android Terminals use a **Captive Portal check** to verify internet connectivity whenever a new network connection is established. When a Terminal moves **out of a Base's coverage area**, it attempts to restore data connectivity using **lower-priority connections**, such as Wi-Fi or Cellular (if these options are configured and available). When the Terminal **re-enters the Base's coverage area**, it automatically attempts to **reconnect to the Base via Bluetooth (BT)**. ### Connection to Terminal (Docked & Undocked) Physical docking between the **Victa Terminal** and the **FF Base** is supported through **pogo pins**. Docking is established using **Bluetooth (BT) pairing**, and communication between the Terminal and the Base takes place via **BT profile protocols**. * By default, when the Terminal is **docked** and an **Ethernet cable** is connected to the FF Base, the Ethernet connection is shared with the Terminal through the pogo pins in **bridge mode**. * When the Terminal is **undocked**, the Ethernet connection is shared with the Terminal via the **BT-PAN interface**. ## BT Connection The Victa Full Feature Base features an integrated Bluetooth radio transceiver, allowing wireless communication. This capability provides the Victa Full Feature Base with flexible, cable-free connectivity options, ideal for dynamic retail and service environments. The Victa Full Feature Base features a simple LED indication of the bluetooth pairing status: * Blinking Blue: Pairing * Solid Blue: Paired ### BT Profiles The Base maintains a Bluetooth connection with the Terminal if the Terminal has been previously paired and connected using a specific BT profile. Different Bluetooth profiles are utilized to support the various **external connectors.** The UUID table for Victa FF Base is as follows: | Interface | UUID | | ---------- | ----------------------------------------- | | USB type B | UUID 2e3531e6-ddc2-4c51-8a51-964e6a920417 | | USB type A | UUID 6820a0cc-24c0-4f65-8d9a-dee11340875b | ### Base BT-PAN modes * Router mode: The Terminal is assigned a **local IP address** by the Base. * Bridge mode: The Terminal can be accessed from external networks through **incoming messages**. ### Data Transfer through FF base | Interface | Port | | ---------- | ---------------- | | USB type B | ACM1 (Serial 17) | | USB type A | ACM3 (Serial 19) | ### Base Control Channel The Terminal maintains a **dedicated control channel** with the Base. The **Base Control application** on the Terminal connects to this channel using **Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP)**. When multiple Terminals are paired with the Base, the Terminal that is **selected within the application** is granted access to the control channel. **Only one Terminal can connect to the control channel at any given time.** **The control channel supports the following internal operations:** * **Configuration**: Switch between **Router** and **Bridge** modes * **Software Information**: Retrieve Base software version details * **Serial Port Configuration** * **Other internal management operations** ### Connection Handover **Routing Preferences** * When the Terminal is **docked** or **undocked**, the preferred connection is B**ase Ethernet**, provided via: * **ETH0** when the device is docked, with option to use BT-only via configuration. * **BT-PAN** when the device is undocked. * When the Terminal moves **outside the Base radio coverage**, it automatically falls back to available communication options based on configured priorities and network availability: * **Highest priority (unmetered)**: Wi-Fi * **Next priority (metered)**: Cellular, in the order **4G -> 3G -> 2G** ### Bluetooth and Peripheral Connection Status * The **Bluetooth connection status** is indicated by an icon in the **Android notification bar.** The following information is available for viewing: | Dock status | Docked Base Network Information | Base OS version | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------- | | Displays the current docking state of the device along with the **serial number of the connected docking station.** | Displays network information provided by the connected docking station. | OS Version of the Docked Station. | ### Loss of Data Connectivity Examples The following examples illustrate the Terminal's connectivity behaviour, including scenarios in which the Base temporarily loses and later restores its internet connection. 1. The Terminal is paired to the Base via the Base Control app, and the Base has an Ethernet cable connected. In this configuration, the Terminal receives data via the BT-PAN profile.
2. If the Ethernet cable is removed from the Base or the Base loses connectivity:

The Terminal falls back to cellular (4G).

The Android notification bar displays the Wi-Fi icon with an "x", indicating that Wi-Fi is connected but no internet access is available.

Explanation:

If the Terminal's Wi-Fi is connected to the same router as the Base's Ethernet, both Ethernet and Wi-Fi share the same gateway.

When the Ethernet connection reports "No Internet Access", the Android Connectivity Manager automatically switches from BT-PAN/Ethernet to cellular data.

When the Ethernet cable is reconnected to the Base, the Terminal automatically switches back to BT-PAN/Ethernet.

1. The Terminal is paired to the Base via the Base Control app, and the Base has an Ethernet cable connected. In this configuration, the Terminal receives data via the BT-PAN profile.
2. If the Ethernet cable is removed from the Base or the Base loses connectivity:

Explanation:

When the Terminal's Wi-Fi uses an independent backhaul (different router or network than the Base's Ethernet), the Android Connectivity Manager automatically switches the Terminal from BT-PAN/Ethernet to Wi-Fi data.
3. When the Ethernet cable is reconnected to the Base, the Terminal automatically switches back to BT-PAN/Ethernet.

1. The Terminal is paired to the Base via the Base Control app, with the Base's Ethernet cable connected. In this configuration, the Terminal receives data via the BT-PAN profile.
2. If the Ethernet cable is removed from the Base or the Base loses connectivity the Terminal falls back to Cellular data.
3. When Wi-Fi is connected:
1. If the Wi-Fi uses an independent backhaul (different network or router than the Base's Ethernet), the Terminal switches from Cellular to Wi-Fi, as Wi-Fi has higher priority than Cellular.
2. If the Wi-Fi uses the same network/router as the Base's Ethernet, the Terminal remains on Cellular, because the Android Connectivity Manager detects that the Wi-Fi connection does not provide additional independent connectivity.
3. When the Ethernet cable is reconnected to the Base, the Terminal automatically switches back to BT-PAN/Ethernet.

Scenario #1:

1. Pair the Terminal to the Base while the Base's Ethernet cable is disconnected (or data is unavailable).

In this case, the Terminal uses Wi-Fi for connectivity.
2. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Base:

The Terminal remains on Wi-Fi.

Explanation:
In Bridge Mode, if the Ethernet cable is not connected (or data is lost), the BT-PAN interface does not receive an IP address when the Terminal starts BT-PAN.

Without an IP address, the Android Connectivity Manager cannot validate the BT-PAN interface for internet access and therefore continues using Wi-Fi.
3. Reconnect Ethernet cable and reboot the Base:

Bridge Mode is re-established, and a valid IP address is assigned to both the Base and the Terminal (as BT-PAN client).

The Terminal automatically switches from Wi-Fi to BT-PAN/Ethernet for connectivity.

| ### Transitions Between Docked and Undocked States When using **Bluetooth (all profiles),** the connection is maintained during both docking and undocking events. Currently, when a single Terminal is used with **two FF Bases,** and the Terminal is moved from **Base B1 to Base B2** and then undocked, the **BT-PAN connection to the most recently paired Base** is re-established. **Scenario 1: Transition Between Two Bases** **Preconditions** * Two FF Bases (**B1** and **B2**) are available * An Ethernet cable is connected to each Base * Both Bases are configured in **Router Mode** **Steps** * Dock the Terminal on **B1**. * Verify the Terminal IP address in **Diagnostics -> Network Information**. * Remove the Terminal from **B1** and dock it on **B2**. * Verify the Terminal IP address again in **Diagnostics -> Network Information**. * Remove the Terminal from **B2** and check which Base the Terminal connects to using: * **Base Control application**, or * **Settings ->Connected Devices** **Actual Result** * When the Terminal is moved from **B1 to B2,** and then undocked, the connection to the **last paired Base (B2)** is maintained, and the **IP address assigned by B2** continues to be used. * When the Terminal is removed from **B2** and then docked on **B1,** the connection to the **last paired Base (B2)** is still maintained, while the **ETH0 interface via pogo pins** becomes active. **Switching Ethernet connection from pogo pins to Wi-Fi:** **Preconditions:** * Terminal is docked to the Base * Wi-Fi is enabled * Ethernet cable is connected to the FF Base * Terminal gets IP address from docked base via USB Pogo pins **Steps:** * Disconnect ethernet cable on the Base **Actual Result:** Terminal falls back to Wi-Fi connection within \~45 sec. **Switching Ethernet Connection from BT-PAN to Wi-Fi** **Preconditions** * Wi-Fi is enabled * Ethernet cable is connected to the FF Base * Terminal is connected to the Base but not docked * Terminal uses BT-PAN for connectivity **Steps** * Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Base **Actual Result:** The Terminal falls back to a Wi-Fi connection within approximately 30 seconds. ### Power Management **Base** The Base does not implement power management and operates continuously in active mode. **Terminal Behavior** **Victa** * **VP1-B-FF** * **Base External Connectors** | Function | Connector | Notes | | --------------- | --------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Serial over USB | USB-B |

This is a USB device interface for connecting to an ECR.

It supports Serial-over-USB communication with ECR devices.

{% endstep %} {% step %} #### Confirm the connection Once pairing is complete, the handset automatically connects to the Base. The **blue LED remains solid,** indicating a successful connection.

Verify that an **Ethernet icon** is displayed and that the default IP address **(192.168.138.2)** is assigned to the **Pogo Pins (Ethernet over USB)** interface. {% hint style="info" %} The update can also be performed via **BT-PAN**; however, when docked, the update process is significantly faster. {% endhint %}
{% stepper %} {% step %} #### Launch Base Manager If the Terminal is already connected to the Base, select the connected Base. If not, choose the paired Base; the Terminal will connect and proceed to the **Base Settings** screen.
{% endstep %} {% step %} #### Update the database On the next screen, select the update file. The file is transferred to the Base, installed, and the Base reboots automatically. After the update completes successfully, verify the software version by selecting **"Software Information"** on the B**ase Settings** screen.
