This section outlines the setup procedures for the Victa Mini device, covering the following segments:
Environmental & Safety Guidelines
Follow these guidelines to ensure safe installation and reliable operation of the device:
Install the device in a clean, dry, and customer-accessible location, away from excessive heat, dust, humidity, moisture, chemicals, oils, and sources of magnetic interference.
Avoid direct sunlight, heat-emitting equipment, and unstable surfaces to prevent equipment damage or personal injury.
Keep the device away from water and do not place it on unstable carts, stands, or tables.
Read and understand all safety instructions before installing the device. Do not proceed if any instructions or warnings are unclear.
Do not install or operate the device if any components are missing or damaged. Improper installation or misuse may result in equipment damage, personal injury, or warranty invalidation.
Use only Verifone-approved accessories and power supplies to minimize the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury.
Periodic Inspection
Periodically inspect the device for signs of tampering. Check for the following:
Wires protruding from the device.
Foreign objects inserted into the smart card reader or magnetic stripe reader.
Unusual bulges below the magnetic stripe reader or an additional magnetic stripe read head visible from the side.
Damaged or missing tamper-evident labels.
A Tamper Warning message displayed on the screen.
Inside the Shipping Carton
Open the shipping carton and carefully inspect the contents for signs of tampering or shipping damage. A tampered or damaged device may not function correctly or may operate in an insecure manner.
Unpacking the Shipping Carton
Inspect the shipping carton
Examine the shipping carton for any visible signs of damage or tampering.
Verify the shipment
Confirm the authenticity of the shipment by verifying the tracking number and order details against the purchase documentation.
Open the carton
Carefully unseal and open the shipping carton.
Inspect the contents
Verify that all components are present and undamaged. The shipping carton includes:
Victa Mini device
Power cable
Power brick
Remove the packaging
Remove all protective packaging from the device and its accessories.
Remove the protective film
Peel off the protective film from the device display.
Retain the packaging
Keep the shipping carton and packing materials for future transportation, storage, or servicing of the device.
Do not install or operate a tampered or damaged device. The Victa Mini is equipped with tamper-evident labels. If any label or component appears damaged or altered, immediately notify both the shipping carrier and your Verifone service representative.

Inspecting the Features of the Unit
Prior to proceeding with the installation process, familiarize yourself with the features of the device.
Installing Micro SIM and or SAM Cards
To install a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) and/or SAM (Security Access Module) card in the Victa Mini device, follow these steps:
Power off the device.
Slide out the back cover to open it.
Insert the SIM/SAM cards securely.
Slide the back cover to close it.
Power on the device to ensure that the cards are recognized.
Bluetooth Pairing
The Victa Mini can be paired with the devices through USB or Bluetooth.
Follow the steps below to pair the device with a Bluetooth-enabled host (e.g., mobile phone, tablet):
Power on the device- Ensure the device is powered on and sufficiently charged.
Enable Bluetooth mode- Press and hold the power button of Victa Mini device for more than 3 seconds and less than 10 seconds until it indicates pairing mode.
Activate Bluetooth on the host device. On the host device, go to Settings > Bluetooth, and ensure Bluetooth is turned on.
Search for devices- The host device automatically searches for available Bluetooth devices. Wait for the list to populate.
Select the device- Select Victa Mini from the available devices.
Charging Base
The Victa Mini is designed to work with a charging base. Efficient battery management maximizes both performance and battery lifespan. Users should place the terminal on the charging base to conveniently recharge the battery and prevent its level from dropping below 10%.
Connecting to the Power Supply
To connect the device to the power supply, follow these steps:
Identify the USB-C port on the Victa Mini device. Connect the power supply cable.
Connect the cable’s other end to a suitable power source or adapter.
Ensure the connection is secure and aligned correctly.
Battery Management
Effective battery management is crucial for optimizing the performance and the lifespan of your device's battery. Here are some steps for battery management:
Initial Battery Charging
To perform the initial battery charging for your Victa Mini device, follow these steps:
After unpacking the device, connect the power pack to the unit.
Allow the device to charge for eight hours or until fully charged.
The battery in the Victa Mini device is equipped with a safety circuit to safeguard the Li-ion cells from overcharging and over-discharging. If the battery becomes over-discharged, the safety circuit will shut down the battery, and it must be recharged to restore operation.
Ensure that you adhere to the recommended charging duration to optimize the battery's performance and longevity.
Using an incorrectly rated power supply may lead to potential damage to the device or cause it not to function as specified. Before proceeding with troubleshooting, it is crucial to verify that the power supply being used to power the device aligns with the specified requirements detailed on the bottom of the device. For comprehensive power supply specifications, refer to the "Specifications" section. If there is any discrepancy, obtain the appropriately rated power supply before proceeding further with troubleshooting activities.

Avoid plugging the power pack into an outdoor outlet. During a transaction, disconnecting the power source by either removing the battery or unplugging the device from a wall power source when the battery charge is very low may result in the loss of transaction data files that have not yet been stored in the device memory. Exercise caution to prevent any unintended loss of transaction data during power-related actions.

Using the Battery
The Victa Mini device utilizes a single-cell Li-ion battery with the following features:
The battery incorporates a safety circuit that prevents damage from overcharge, over-discharge, or overheating.
It activates when the battery is left unused in the device for extended periods.
The battery provides power to the security circuit when the Victa Mini device has no external power source.
Li-ion batteries are not affected by shallow charging.
To ensure optimal function, follow these best practices:
Conserve battery power by turning off the Victa Mini device when not in use.
Keep the Li-ion battery inserted in the device and power up the device periodically to check the battery charge. Avoid letting the battery charge fall below 10% for extended periods, as this may permanently diminish battery capacity.
Recharge the battery by connecting the USB-C end of the power pack to the device and plug the other end into a wall outlet.
Battery Life
Charging and discharging the Victa Mini battery repeatedly over hundreds of cycles will contribute to the natural wear and aging of the battery. If you observe significantly reduced operating times, it may indicate the need for a battery replacement. Refer to "Service and Support" section for ordering information regarding replacement batteries. When it comes to disposal, it is essential to follow proper procedures:
Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
Li-ion batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly.
Do not dispose of Li-ion batteries in municipal waste sites.
Proper disposal of Li-ion batteries is crucial for environmental safety. Check with local recycling programs or electronic waste collection facilities for guidance on the correct disposal of Li-ion batteries in your area. Many communities have specific programs for recycling electronic devices and batteries to prevent environmental harm.
Replacing the Battery
If the battery is faulty or not working or any other issues with the battery, then it can be replaced by the customer by following the below steps:
Open the back cover.
Remove the existing battery.
Place the new battery and close the back cover.
Startup and Shutdown
The startup process for the Victa Mini device varies based on its power source. When connected to a non-battery power source, the device automatically starts up, irrespective of the battery charge. To manually power up, press, and hold the power key for approximately 3 to 5 seconds until the startup screen appears.
Victa Mini Connections
Victa Mini can be connected the ECR and other peripherals through orange dongle D3. It can also be pole mounted.
Victa Mini to ECR and other peripheral devices
To connect the device to the ECR and other peripheral devices, follow these steps:
Connect to the ECR, printer, and scanner
Connect the Victa Mini to the Electronic Cash Register (ECR), printer, and scanner using the Orange Dongle (D3).
Verify communication
Ensure the terminal and the ECR establish proper communication for transaction data exchange.
Process transaction details
The ECR sends transaction details to the payment terminal for processing.
Victa Mini - Pole Mounting
To connect the device and place it on the pole, follow these steps:
Prepare the mounting area

Assemble the pole mount and secure the pole mount bracket.
Attach the Victa Mini
Attach the Victa Mini by aligning the mounting holes and fastening with the supplied screws.
Connect the required cables

Power on and verify
Power on the device and verify proper startup.
Victa Mini Transactions
Insert
A smart card reader integrated into the front of the device to process smart card-based debit or credit transactions. To proceed with an EMV transaction: * Insert the smart card into the reader slot. * Ensure the contacts on the smart card are facing upward. * Insert the card smoothly and continuously until it sits firmly. * Wait for the application to signal a completed transaction before removing the card. * Note that premature card removal may invalidate the transaction. * EMV transactions support both credit and debit card transactions using the specified procedure
Swipe
A magnetic card reader is built into the device that allows debit or credit card transactions. For proper magnetic swipe card reading, insert the card from the side of the device. Follow the steps to use the magnetic stripe card: * Position the card with the magnetic stripe facing backward or downward. * To ensure a proper read, insert the magnetic card from the side of the device. * Swipe the card through the magnetic card reader. * If using a smart card, insert the card and follow the on-screen instructions before removing it. * This process allows for the utilization of both magnetic stripe and smart cards with the device.
CTLS
The device supports contactless credit or debit card transactions gently tap the card onto the payment device or hold the card within 4 cm against the surface of the device, above the Contactless Reader icon.
