# 3D Secure test cases

3D Secure (3DS) adds an extra layer of security to all online payments. With 3DS , an additional authentication step is enabled for the cardholder before sending an authorization request to the card issuer (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Amex, etc.). Therefore, no payments will ever go through unless the cardholder authorizes them.
