Commander Reports

Commander Reports provides Store Managers and Administrators with access to period-close reports generated by the Commander Site Controller at each site. Reports are automatically synced to Verifone Commander Central at the close of every shift, day, or other configured period — no manual export or direct Commander Site Controller login is required.

Navigation: Verifone Commander Central > Commerce > Reports.

Accessing Commander Reports

To access Commander Reports:

1

Log into Verifone Commander Central.

2

Open Reports

Navigate to Commerce > Reports.

3

Find Site

Use the Service ID search field or Hierarchy drop-down menu to locate the site whose reports you want to view.

4

Apply Filter

Click Apply after selecting the sites from the Service ID search field or Hierarchy drop-down menu.

5

View List

The report list displays all available period-close reports for the selected site, sorted by most recent period close.

Search & Filter Field Descriptions

The following fields are available in the search and filter bar at the top of the Reports page:

Field/Button
Description

Service ID

The default search type. Enter a site's Service ID in the Search Criteria field and select Search to locate a specific site.

Search Criteria

Free-text input field for entering the Service ID or other search value. Works in conjunction with the search type selector on the left.

Search

Submits the search and displays matching sites as site cards below.

Hierarchy

Filters the site list by your account's organizational hierarchy. Select to expand and choose hierarchy nodes. The (+1) badge indicates the number of active hierarchy filters.

Clear Filters

Removes all active Hierarchy filters and resets the page to show results without hierarchy filtering.

When a site is found, a site card appears showing the following information:

Field / Button
Description

Site Name

The display name of the site as configured in Verifone Commander Central.

Service ID

The unique identifier for the site. Used to locate and identify the Commander Site Controller unit.

Version

The Commander Site Controller software version currently running at this site (e.g. 057.01.00). This is the base version that determines how report data is parsed and mapped for display.

Status

The Commander Site Controller's current connection status. ONLINE (green) indicates the Commander Site Controller is connected and actively syncing report data. If the Commander Site Controller is offline, report data from the last connected sync remains available, but new period closes will not appear until connectivity is restored.

Hide

Collapses the site card from view without clearing the search results or filters.

Period Type

Required. Specifies which type of reporting period to view. The drop-down is populated dynamically - only period types with at least one completed, approved close for this site appear. Select a Period Type first, as this filters the Available Periods list. See Period Type Reference below for all possible values.

Available Periods

Required. Lists the completed period closes available for the selected Period Type and site. Each entry includes a date and sequence number identifying the specific close (e.g. a shift close from a given date). Only approved period closes are shown - the currently open (in-progress) period does not appear. Select the specific period you want to report on.

Report Type(s)

Required. Specifies which report table(s) to generate from the selected period. Each Commander Site Controller period close produces data across up to 46 distinct report tables. Select one or more report types to include. See Report Type Reference below for the full list of available tables.

Generate Report

Submits the request and retrieves the selected report(s) for the chosen site, period type, available period, and report type(s). Disabled until all three fields (Period Type, Available Periods, and Report Type) have a value selected. The drop-down arrow on the button may provide additional output format options.

Discard/Clear

Resets the Period Type, Available Periods, and Report Type selections without navigating away from the page.

Generating a Report

After selecting a site, the report generation panel appears below the site card. Complete the three required fields and then select Generate Report.

To generate a Period Close Report:

1

Period Type

From the Period Type drop-down, select the type of period close to view (e.g. Shift, Day). Only period types that have at least one completed close available for this site will appear.

2

Select Period

From the Available Periods drop-down, select the specific period close to view. The list shows all completed, approved closes for the selected period type, with the most recent first.

3

Report Type

From the Report Type(s) drop-down, select one or more report tables to include in the output (e.g. summaryTotals, departmentTotals).

4

Generate Report

Select Generate Report to retrieve and display the selected report. The Generate Report button is disabled until all three fields are completed.

Viewing a Report

To view the data for a specific period close report:

1

Find Report

Locate the report in the list using the Service ID, Hierarchy, Period Type, or Date filters.

2

Open Report

Select View next to the report you want to open. The report viewer opens and displays the report data for the selected period.

3

Review Data

Review the report content. The data is presented using the Commander Site Controller's standard report formatting.

4

Go Back

To return to the report list, select Back or use the browser's back navigation.

Commander Site Controller Reports are displayed using the Commander Site Controller's existing report style sheets. The layout and field labels match the reports you would see on the Commander Site Controller directly.

Report Availability and Retention

Commander Site Controller Reports are made available in Commander Central automatically after each period close on the Verifone Commander Site Controller. The following rules apply:

  • Reports appear in Commander Central within a short time of the Commander Site Controller completing a period close, once the data has been transmitted and confirmed.

  • Reports are retained in Commander Central for 90 days from the date of the period close. Reports older than 90 days are automatically removed.

  • If a Commander Site Controller is offline at the time of a period close, the Commander Site Controller will automatically retry the report transmission once connectivity is restored. No manual intervention is required.

  • Each period type (Shift, Day) produces its own set of report records. A Day close will also include the constituent Shift closes from that day, each available as separate entries.

Reports are generated on the Commander Site Controller from the site's totals database at the time of each period close. Historical data from before the Commander Site Controller was connected to Commander Central is not available.

Retention Rule
Detail

Offline Commander Site Controller Behavior

Commander Site Controller retries transmission automatically when connectivity is restored — no manual action needed

Data source

Historical data

Only available from the point the Commander Site Controller was registered with C-Site and began syncing

Period Types Reference

The following period types are supported in Commander Site Controller Reports. The period types available for a given site depend on the Commander Site Controller's configuration.

Period Type
Description

SHIFT

A single shift period close. Shift closes occur when a cashier or manager closes a shift on the Commander Site Controller. Multiple shifts may occur within a single day.

DAY

A day period close. Day closes occur once per business day and include a summary across all shifts for that day. A Day close automatically includes its constituent Shift closes as separate report entries.

The period types available depend on the Commander's software version and configuration. Contact your Verifone Authorized Service Contractor (VASC) if expected period types are not appearing in the report list.
