# Initialization

The Initialization section is located under Verifone Commander Central > Site Management > (Select Site) > Forecourt > Initialization. Initialization commands allow authorized users to send control commands from C-Site to the Commander at a site. These commands trigger specific operations on the Commander, such as refreshing fuel configuration, updating fuel prices, or restarting dispenser communication drivers.

Each command displays the status of the last execution and provides the option to resend the command if needed.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Initialization commands affect live site operations. Ensure there are no active transactions before sending initialization commands that may interrupt fueling or payment processing.
{% endhint %}

#### Command Statuses

All initialization commands display one of the following statuses after execution:

<table><thead><tr><th width="230.6666259765625" valign="top">Status</th><th valign="top">Meaning</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td valign="top">ACCEPTED</td><td valign="top">The command has been received by C-Site and is queued for delivery to the Commander.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">IN_PROGRESS</td><td valign="top">The command has been sent to the Commander and is currently being executed.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">SUCCESS</td><td valign="top">The Commander has confirmed successful execution of the command.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">FAILED</td><td valign="top">The Commander reported that the command failed to execute. Review the command log and retry if needed.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">RETRY_REQUIRED</td><td valign="top">The command could not be fully completed. Use the resend option or the Offline Initialization option where available.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">FAILED_TIMEOUT</td><td valign="top">The Commander did not respond within the allowed time window (15 minutes). The command has been marked as expired. Resend if still required.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">EXPIRED</td><td valign="top">The command was not executed within 15 minutes of being submitted and has been automatically canceled.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">PPU_FORMAT_MISMATCH</td><td valign="top">Fuel Price Initialization was rejected because the PPU Decimal Position differs between the pending and in-effect fuel configuration. Perform a Fuel Initialization (Full Init) first; Fuel Price Initialization becomes available again once it completes.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">B2B_FUEL_INIT_ERROR</td><td valign="top">A Fuel Initialization was rejected because another Fuel Initialization is already in progress at the site. Wait for the in-progress command to reach SUCCESS or FAILED before resending.</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="info" %}
Records are automatically purged after 90 days.

If the Commander is offline, C-Site will display: “Commander is offline. Please check its connectivity with Commander Central.”
{% endhint %}

### Fuel Initialization

The Fuel Initialization command sends the pending fuel configuration to the Commander at the site, triggering a full fuel initialization. Use this command when fuel configuration changes have been made in Fuel Pending Config and need to be applied to the site.

Navigation: Verifone Commander Central > Site Management > (Select Site) > Forecourt > Initialization > Fuel.

<figure><img src="/files/2I11lAo1CDluUYtbXKys" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

To send a Fuel Initialization command:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Navigate**

Navigate to **Forecourt → Initialization → Fuel**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Review Status**

Check the last command status before sending a new command. Review the last command status to confirm no initialization is currently in progress.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Select**&#x20;

Review the confirmation prompt and select Confirm to proceed, or Cancel to abort.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Track Status**

Monitor the command until it finishes. The command status updates to ACCEPTED, then IN\_PROGRESS as the Commander processes the request. When complete, the status updates to SUCCESS or FAILED.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Verify Results**

Confirm the change in the active fuel prices view. To verify the results, navigate to Forecourt > Fuel > Fuel Prices and select In Effect Prices from the drop-down.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

<table><thead><tr><th width="212" valign="top">Field / Button</th><th valign="top">Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td valign="top">Fuel Initialization</td><td valign="top">Sends the pending fuel configuration to the Verifone Commander. A confirmation prompt is displayed before the command is submitted.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Offline Initialization</td><td valign="top">Sends the fuel initialization to the Verifone Commander regardless of whether the fuel price sign is online. Use this option if the fuel price sign is offline and prices must be updated.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Last Command Status</td><td valign="top">Displays the status and timestamp of the most recently submitted Fuel Initialization command.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Description</td><td valign="top">Displays a description of the last command execution, including any error details if the command failed.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Resend</td><td valign="top">Resends the initialization command to the Verifone Commander. Available when the last command status is FAILED or RETRY_REQUIRED.</td></tr></tbody></table>

### Fuel Price Initialization

The Fuel Price Initialization command sends the pending fuel price configuration to the site and updates the fuel prices at the Commander. Use this command after updating fuel prices in Forecourt > Fuel > Fuel Prices.

Navigation: Verifone Commander Central > Site Management > (Select Site) > Forecourt > Initialization > Fuel Prices.

{% hint style="info" %}
If the PPU Decimal Position (Forecourt > Fuel > Fuel Configurations > Parameters) has been changed and the pending value differs from the value currently in effect at the site, Fuel Price Initialization is blocked. The system displays: “Cannot update prices. PPU decimal format has changed. Perform a Full Fuel Initialization.” Perform a Fuel Initialization first (see “Fuel Initialization” section); after it completes successfully, Fuel Price Initialization is available again for any number of subsequent price changes.

Available when status is FAILED or RETRY_REQUIRED.</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="info" %}
If the fuel price sign is offline, prices will not update. To force the prices to update with the fuel price sign offline, select the Offline Initialization option.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/petroleum-docs/petro-and-c-store/commander-central/commander-central-user-guide/site-configuration/forecourt/initialization.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
