# Stuck on White Screen

What to do when your P400 Two-Piece is stuck on a white screen — check the charger, restart, and wait.

## Symptoms

You may see one or more of the following:

* The screen stays **white** and the terminal doesn't start up properly.
* The terminal doesn't respond.

**Why this happens:** this is usually caused by using the **wrong charger** for the terminal — for example, using a V400c charger with a P400.

## Resolution

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Check you're using the right charger

Make sure each unit is connected to the charger made for that terminal model. Chargers from other Verifone terminals may look similar but won't work correctly.

If you were using the wrong charger, connect the correct one and wait for the terminal to start up.

✅ **Terminal starts normally — stop here.** ❌ **Still stuck — continue to Step 2.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Restart the terminal

If you're using the correct charger and the screen is still white, restart the terminal — see [How to Reboot the Terminal](/support-nordics/p400-two-piece-sa/how-tos/how-to-reboot-the-terminal.md).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Wait 30 minutes

After restarting, leave the terminal connected to power and wait **30 minutes**. Then check whether it has started normally.

✅ **Terminal starts normally — stop here.** ❌ **Still stuck after 30 minutes — continue to Step 4.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Contact Verifone Support

If the terminal is still stuck on a white screen after 30 minutes, <mark style="color:red;">contact Verifone Support</mark>.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

**If the terminal starts normally.** It's ready to use.

**If the screen is still white.** Contact Support below.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/p400-two-piece-sa/errors/stuck-on-white-screen.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
