# How to Check the Network Information

Check your P400 Two-Piece operator unit's IP address and connection status.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you need to find your operator unit's **IP address** or check that it's connected to your network.
{% endhint %}

You'll need the operator unit's IP address when you [connect the two units together](/support-nordics/p400-two-piece-sa/how-tos/how-to-connect-the-devices-together.md).

## Check the network information

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the menu

On the operator unit, press **#**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Go to the IP addresses

1. Select **Administration > Settings > Communications**.
2. Scroll down and select **More > Status > IP addresses**.
3. Select **LAN**.
   {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Print the information

The screen shows the terminal's **IP address**. Press **Print** in the bottom-right corner and keep the printout.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check the status

Check the printout says **"UP"** under **Status**.

* **If it says UP:** the terminal is connected to your network.
* **If it doesn't:** check all network cables are connected correctly — see [How to Connect the Cables](/support-nordics/p400-two-piece-sa/how-tos/how-to-connect-the-cables.md) — then print again.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Leave the menu

Press the **red button** until you're out of the menu.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
In the communication menu, the **red button** takes you back one step. Keep pressing it until you're out of the menu.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/p400-two-piece-sa/how-tos/how-to-check-the-network-information.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
