# How to Connect the Cables

Connect the network and power cables to your P400 Two-Piece customer unit and operator unit.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you're setting up your P400 Two-Piece for the first time, or need to reconnect its cables.
{% endhint %}

Your P400 Two-Piece has two units, and each one needs its own network and power cables:

* **Customer unit (P400)** — the unit your customer uses to pay.
* **Operator unit (V400c)** — the unit at the till, with the receipt printer.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Both units must be connected to the same network** — either directly to your router, or through your switch.
{% endhint %}

## Connect the customer unit

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the hatch

Turn the customer unit over and open the hatch on the back.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect the adapter

Connect the adapter cable inside the hatch, then close the hatch.

{% step %}

### Connect the network and power cables

1. Connect a network cable to the adapter's socket marked **ETH**.
2. Connect the other end of the network cable to your switch or router.
3. Connect the power cable to the adapter.

{% endstepper %}

Once both units are connected, you're ready to set them up — see [Terminal Setup (Out of Box)](/support-nordics/p400-two-piece-sa/how-tos/terminal-setup-out-of-box.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/p400-two-piece-sa/how-tos/how-to-connect-the-cables.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
