# Waiting for Connection for Countertop USB

What to do when the P400 shows Waiting for connection for countertop USB — the P400 can't reach the T650C.

## Symptoms

You may see one or more of the following:

* The P400 shows **"Waiting for connection for countertop USB"**.
* Payments started on the T650C don't appear on the P400.

**Why this happens:** the P400 can't connect to the T650C. This is usually because a cable is loose or not connected properly.

Your T650 Two-Piece has two units: the **T650C** (the unit you use to start payments) and the **P400** (the PIN pad your customer uses). The P400 gets its **power and network connection from the T650C**.

## Resolution

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Unplug and reconnect all the cables

1. Unplug **all** the cables from both the **P400** and the **T650C**.
2. Plug them back in, making sure each one is **pushed in firmly** — the connectors can be stiff.
3. Compare your cables with the pictures below to make sure everything is connected correctly.

✅ **P400 connects — stop here.** ❌ **Still waiting for connection — continue to Step 2.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Restart the terminal

Restart the T650C — see [How to Reboot the Terminal](/support-nordics/t650-two-piece/how-tos/how-to-reboot-the-terminal.md). The P400 restarts with it, because it's powered by the T650C.

✅ **P400 connects — stop here.** ❌ **Still waiting for connection — contact Support below.**
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/t650-two-piece/errors/waiting-for-connection-for-countertop-usb.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
