# How to Connect the Cables

Connect the P400 to the T650C, and connect the T650C to the mains and your network.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you're setting up your T650 Two-Piece for the first time, or reconnecting the cables between the T650C and the P400.
{% endhint %}

Your T650 Two-Piece has two units: the **T650C** (the unit you use to start payments) and the **P400** (the PIN pad your customer uses). The T650C is powered by a **USB-C power cable plugged into the mains**. The P400 gets both its **power** and its **network connection** from the T650C.

## Connect the cables

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Connect the P400 to the T650C

Connect the cable from the **P400** to the **T650C**. Push each connector in **firmly** — the connectors can be stiff.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect the network cable (if you use one)

If you connect to your network with a cable (Ethernet), plug the **network cable** into the **T650C**. If you use Wi-Fi, you can skip this step — see [How to Set Up Wi-Fi](/support-nordics/t650-two-piece/how-tos/how-to-set-up-wi-fi.md).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect the power

Connect the **USB-C power cable** to the **T650C**, then plug it into a **mains power socket**. The T650C and the P400 both power up.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check the connections

Compare your cables with the pictures below to make sure everything is connected correctly.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Once everything is connected, set up the terminal — see [Terminal Setup (Out of Box)](/support-nordics/t650-two-piece/how-tos/terminal-setup-out-of-box.md).

{% hint style="warning" %}
**P400 shows "Waiting for connection for countertop USB"?** See [Waiting for Connection for Countertop USB](/support-nordics/t650-two-piece/errors/waiting-for-connection-for-countertop-usb.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/t650-two-piece/how-tos/how-to-connect-the-cables.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
