# How to Connect the Cables

Connect the network and power cables to your V400c.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you're setting up your V400c for the first time, or need to reconnect its cables.
{% endhint %}

Your V400c can connect to your network with a **network (Ethernet/LAN) cable** or **Wi-Fi**. This guide covers connecting the cables. To use Wi-Fi instead, see [How to Set Up Wi-Fi](/support-nordics/v400c/how-tos/how-to-set-up-wi-fi.md).

## Connect the cables

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the hatch

Turn the terminal over and open the hatch on the back.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect the network cable

Connect a network cable inside the hatch, then connect the other end to your switch or router.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect the power cable

1. Connect the power cable.
2. Lock the connector in place by turning it **clockwise**.
3. Close the hatch.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Once the cables are connected, you're ready to set up the terminal — see [Terminal Setup (Out of Box)](/support-nordics/v400c/how-tos/terminal-setup-out-of-box.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/v400c/how-tos/how-to-connect-the-cables.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
