{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Your customer presents their card

Your customer **inserts** or **taps** their card.

The terminal shows whether the refund was **approved** or **declined**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## If you see "Transaction type not allowed"

This message means refunds aren't turned on for your terminal.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Verifone Pay customers:** you can still process the refund through **TCS Client**:

1. Log in to **TCS Client** — see [How to Log In to TCS](/support-nordics/tcs-client/getting-started/how-to-log-in-to-tcs.md).
2. Find the **original transaction** — see [How to Search for Transactions](/support-nordics/tcs-client/transactions-and-clearing/how-to-search-for-transactions.md).
3. Select the transaction and request the refund — see [How to Request a Refund](/support-nordics/tcs-client/refunds/how-to-request-a-refund.md).
4. Approve the refund request — see [How to Approve or Reject a Refund Request](/support-nordics/tcs-client/refunds/how-to-approve-or-reject-a-refund-request.md).
   {% endhint %}

**Want to process refunds directly on the terminal?** <mark style="color:red;">Contact Verifone Support</mark> and we'll request for refunds to be turned on for your terminal.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/v400c/how-tos/how-to-perform-a-refund.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
