# How to Connect the Cables

Charge and start up your V400M, and insert the receipt roll.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you're setting up your V400M for the first time and need to charge it, start it up, or insert a receipt roll.
{% endhint %}

Your V400M is a portable terminal. It connects to your network using **Wi-Fi**, so the only cable you need is the **power cable** for charging.

## Charge and start the terminal

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Connect the power cable

Start charging the terminal by connecting the **power cable** supplied with it to a power socket.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Start the terminal

Hold down the **green button** for a few seconds until the screen lights up.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Battery tip:** we recommend only leaving the terminal on charge **overnight**, so the battery isn't overcharged.
{% endhint %}

## Insert the receipt roll

If you use **Print And Go** (receipts from your till system printed on the terminal), insert a receipt roll:

1. Open the **hatch**.
2. Insert a new receipt roll as shown in the picture.
3. Leave a small piece of paper **sticking out**, then close the hatch.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Avoid paper jams:** always tear off the receipt as shown in the picture below.

You can order receipt rolls from our webshop: [webshop.verifone.se](https://webshop.verifone.se).

Once the terminal is charged and started, set it up — see [Terminal Setup (Out of Box)](/support-nordics/v400m-integrated/how-tos/terminal-setup-out-of-box.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/v400m-integrated/how-tos/how-to-connect-the-cables.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
