# How to Process a Sale

Take a card payment on your V660P.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you want to take a card payment from a customer.
{% endhint %}

## Take a payment

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Enter the amount

On the **Connect Express** screen, enter the amount and tap **Card**.

Tap **C** to clear the amount if you make a mistake.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Your customer pays

Your customer can **insert**, **tap**, or **swipe** their card. The terminal shows **Please Wait…** while it reads the card.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### PIN entry (if asked)

If the card needs a PIN, your customer enters it and taps **Enter**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check the result

The terminal shows **Authorising…**, then **APPROVED**. Your customer removes their card if it's still inserted.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Signature (if asked)

If the card needs a signature, your customer signs on the screen and taps **Done**, then hands the terminal back. Check the signature and tap **Yes, Approve** — or **No** if it doesn't match the card (the payment is then cancelled).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Choose the customer receipt

Choose **Print**, **Email**, **Print & Email**, or **No Receipt**. If asked, tear off the customer receipt and tap **Continue** — the merchant receipt then prints.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Out of paper?** Load a new roll and tap **Try Again**, or tap **Continue Without Receipt**. The payment is still approved.
{% endhint %}

**Payment interrupted?** See [Did the Payment Go Through?](/support-nordics/v660p/errors/did-the-payment-go-through.md) before trying again.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/v660p/how-tos/how-to-process-a-sale.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
