# How to Set Up a PIN Code

Create, change, or delete the 4-digit PIN code that protects settings and functions on your Victa.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you want to protect functions such as refunds, voids, reports, and settings with a PIN code.
{% endhint %}

Your Victa uses a **4-digit PIN code** (not a Manager or Cashier passcode) to protect sensitive functions. Once it's set, the terminal asks for the PIN before it lets anyone use the functions you choose.

## Set a PIN code

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the security settings

Tap the **menu icon (☰)** in the top-left corner of the **Connect Express** screen, then tap **Settings > Security**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create your PIN

Tap **Set PIN**, enter a new **4-digit PIN**, and tap **Enter**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Confirm your PIN

Enter the **same PIN** again and tap **Enter**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Choose what the PIN protects

Tick the functions that should need the PIN: **Void**, **Refund**, **Sales Overview**, and **Settings**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Change or delete your PIN

Go to **Settings > Security** and tap **Change PIN** or **Delete PIN**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Forgotten your PIN code?** <mark style="color:red;">Contact the Helpdesk</mark> — we can reset it for you.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-nordics/victa/how-tos/how-to-set-up-a-pin-code.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
