# How to Set Up a Static IP Address

Configure a static IP address on a P400 terminal for a Wi-Fi or LAN connection.

**Use this when** you need to give a P400 terminal a static (fixed) IP address on Wi-Fi or LAN.

Make sure the IP you set on the terminal matches the IP configured for it on the EPOS system.

This guide sets a static IP from the connection's configuration menu.

You'll need the Configuration password to complete this process. The default is `12345`. If it has been changed and you don't know it, refer to page 43 of the [Webcom Manual](https://helpcenter.verifone.com/webcom-manual/).

## Set up a static IP address

### Select the communication type

Choose the connection type you want to configure for a static IP — for example `Wi-Fi` or `LAN`.

### Open Configuration

Tap `Configuration` and enter your Configuration password.

### Select the network to edit

Choose the network you want to edit (for example, your Wi-Fi network).

### View / edit settings

Tap `View / Edit`.

### Open IP Settings

Select `IP Settings`.

### Choose IPv4

Tap `IPv4`.

### Disable DHCP

Select `DHCP` and choose `No`.

### Enter the IP address

Set the IP address. **All IP addresses must be entered in 3-digit blocks with zeros as padding — for example `192.168.001.010`.**

### Enter the Subnet Mask

Type the correct Subnet Mask.

### Enter the Gateway IP address

Type the Gateway IP address.

### Enter DNS 1

Type the primary DNS server address.

### Enter DNS 2

Type the secondary DNS server address.

### Save and apply the changes

Press `Save`, then confirm to apply the changes.

### Test connectivity (optional)

Run a Ping test to confirm the terminal is connected to the network correctly.
