# Terminal Won't Connect to the Network

What to do when a T650 appears connected but isn't working, including checking its network information.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this page when** the terminal appears to have a connection (shows a signal or connection icon) but may not actually be connected — for example payments fail or time out even though the terminal looks online.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Do NOT use this page when** the terminal displays **Error T703 – No Connection to Host** — follow [Error T703 – No Connection to Host](/support-uk/t650/errors/error-t703-no-connection-to-host.md) instead.
{% endhint %}

## Symptoms

You may see one or more of the following:

* The terminal shows a Wi-Fi or mobile signal, but payments still fail or time out.
* The connection icon looks normal, but the terminal behaves as if offline.
* You're not sure whether the terminal is really connected.

**Most likely cause:** the terminal is showing a connection but isn't actually connected to the network — checking the network information confirms the real status.

## Resolution

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Check the network information

Follow [How to Check the Network Information](/support-uk/t650/how-tos/how-to-check-the-network-information.md). Check:

* **Network status** — connected or disconnected.
* **Connectivity type** — Wi-Fi or mobile data.
* **Device IP** — whether the terminal has an IP address.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Reconnect the terminal

* **If the terminal should be on Wi-Fi** and shows disconnected or no IP: reconnect it — see [How to Set Up Wi-Fi](/support-uk/t650/how-tos/how-to-set-up-wi-fi.md).
* **If the terminal uses mobile data** and shows disconnected: check the mobile data setup — see [How to Set Up Mobile Data](/support-uk/t650/how-tos/how-to-set-up-mobile-data.md).
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

**If the terminal now connects and payments work.** No further action needed. Monitor for repeat issues.

**If the terminal still won't connect.** Contact Support below.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-uk/t650/errors/terminal-wont-connect-to-the-network.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
