# Terminal Setup (Out of Box)

Set up a T650 terminal for the first time — language, network, Device ID, and updates.

**Use this when** you're setting up a T650 terminal for the first time, straight out of the box.

Before you complete this setup, the **Serial Number** and **Device ID** will not yet be linked. This linking happens automatically once you finish the setup process on the terminal and enter the Device ID.

## Set up the terminal

### Power on the terminal

Hold the **power button** on the side of the terminal to switch it on. Make sure the terminal is **fully charged** before starting.

### Select your language

The first screen displays language options. Select your preferred language.

### Set up the network

The terminal shows available Wi-Fi networks. Alternatively, select **Ethernet** or **USB** at the bottom if using those connections. If using Wi-Fi, enter the Wi-Fi password and tap **Next**.

### Enter your Device ID

Either scan the QR code from your welcome email, or manually enter your Device ID.

### Wait for updates

The terminal merges with your account and checks for updates. Allow the terminal to complete all updates — **do not turn it off during this process.**

### Ready to use

Once updates are complete, the terminal restarts. You'll either go directly to the sale screen, or be prompted to set up [manager and cashier passcodes](/support-uk/t650/how-tos/how-to-set-up-manager-and-cashier-passcodes.md).
