# Reports Failed on the Terminal

Reports fail to generate on the V240M — often caused by no transactions today or special characters in the account name.

## Symptoms

You may see:

* A report fails to generate when you try to run it on the terminal.

**Most likely cause:** there are no transactions to report today, or the account name contains special characters.

## Resolution

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Check for transactions

Make sure the terminal has processed transactions today. You can verify this in Webcom — refer to page 73 of the [Webcom Manual](https://helpcenter.verifone.com/webcom-manual/).

✅ **Report now runs — stop here.** ❌ **Still failing — continue to Step 2.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check the account name for special characters

Make sure the account name doesn't contain special characters (e.g. `&`, `/`, `-`). To check and amend it, refer to page 29 of the [Webcom Manual](https://helpcenter.verifone.com/webcom-manual/).

✅ **Report now runs — stop here.** ❌ **Still failing — continue to Step 3.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Apply a configuration update

If you changed the account name in Webcom, mark your terminal(s) for a [configuration update](https://helpcenter.verifone.com/webcom-tms/terminals/configuration-update).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Reboot the terminal

Once the update is complete, [reboot the terminal](/support-uk/v240m/how-tos/how-to-reboot-a-v240m.md) and try generating the report again.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-uk/v240m/errors/reports-failed-on-the-terminal.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
