# How to Enable Standalone Mode

Switch a V240M terminal to Standalone Mode so it operates on its own, without a connected EPOS or till system.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you need a V240M terminal to run on its own — taking it out of POS (Integrated) mode so it no longer needs a connected EPOS or till system.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Do NOT use this when** the terminal needs to stay connected to an EPOS/till system — standalone mode takes it out of EPOS control. To keep it integrated, use [How to Enable POS Mode](/support-uk/v240m/how-tos/how-to-enable-pos-mode.md) instead.
{% endhint %}

This guide switches the V240M out of POS (Integrated) mode and back to standalone from the Configuration menu, so it can process transactions on its own.

{% hint style="info" %}
You'll need the Configuration PIN to complete this process. The default is `12345`. If it has been changed and you don't know it, refer to page 43 of the [Webcom Manual](https://helpcenter.verifone.com/webcom-manual/).
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-uk/v240m/how-tos/how-to-enable-standalone-mode.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
