# How to Set Up a Static IP Address

Configure a static IP address on a V240M terminal for a Wi-Fi or LAN connection.

**Use this when** you need to give a V240M terminal a static (fixed) IP address on a Wi-Fi or LAN connection.

This guide sets a static IP address by disabling DHCP and entering the IP, subnet, gateway, and DNS details manually.

Make sure the IP you set on the terminal matches the IP configured for it on the EPOS system.

You'll need the Configuration password to complete this process. The default is `12345`. If it has been changed and you don't know it, refer to page 43 of the [Webcom Manual](https://helpcenter.verifone.com/webcom-manual/).

## Set up a static IP address

### Select the connection type

Choose the communication type you want to configure for a static IP — for example `Wi-Fi` or `LAN`.

### Open Configuration

Tap `Configuration` and enter your Configuration password.

### Select the network to edit

Choose the network you want to edit — for example, your Wi-Fi network.

### Open View / Edit

Tap `View / Edit`.

### Open IP Settings

Select `IP Settings`.

### Choose IPv4

Tap `IPv4`.

### Disable DHCP

Select `DHCP` and choose `No`.

### Enter the IP address

Set the IP address.

All IP addresses must be entered in **3-digit blocks**, using zeros as padding — for example `192.168.001.010`.

### Enter the subnet mask

Type the correct subnet mask.

### Enter the gateway IP address

Type the gateway IP address.

### Enter DNS 1

Type the primary DNS server address.

### Enter DNS 2

Type the secondary DNS server address.

### Save and apply

Press `Save`, then confirm to apply the changes.

### Test connectivity (optional)

Run a Ping test to confirm the terminal is connected to the network correctly.
