# Completion

This section includes how Merchants can process a Completion using the Web Terminal from established PAYware Connect Store Portal services.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you need to finalize a Pre Auth or Voice Auth transaction so it becomes available for settlement.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Do NOT use this when** there's no outstanding Pre Auth or Voice Auth to finalize — see [Sale](/support-us/payware-connect/transaction-help/web-terminal/sale.md) instead.
{% endhint %}

A Completion "completes" a Pre Auth or Voice Auth, making it available for settlement. A Pre Auth or Voice Auth combined with a Completion is similar to a Sale.

## Setup

{% hint style="warning" %}
If you already know the Transaction ID of the Pre Auth, Voice Auth, or prior Completion, you can search for it directly instead of browsing the pending list. Otherwise, use the Transaction Search report to look it up first.
{% endhint %}

## Process a Completion

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the Web Terminal

Once logged in to the [Store Portal](https://storeportal.vfipayna.com/), navigate to `Transaction Processing` → `Web Terminal`. The **Web Terminal** window opens.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Select Completion

Choose the **Completion** option. PAYware Connect displays your Pre Auth and Voice Auth transactions that haven't yet been completed.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Find the transaction

Either:

* Click a listed transaction's row (it turns blue), then click the pencil icon on the left to view its details. Click **Close Window** when done, or
* Type the Transaction ID directly and specify `CTroutD` or `TroutD` from the drop-down list — useful for completing a previous Sale or Completion transaction.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Search and confirm details

Click **Search**. PAYware Connect locates the transaction. The Account Number and Transaction ID fields are already filled in from the original Pre Auth or Voice Auth. Enter a **Trans Amount** — this is required. Card Holder Name, Invoice Number, and Auth Code may already be filled in; they're optional.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Submit

Click **Submit**. PAYware Connect connects to the payment processing company and, after a moment, displays a summary of the transaction data and the results.

The summary restates the information sent to the processing company, followed by the transaction's result. Each item is a "section" of the results, with a Response for each item.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-us/payware-connect/transaction-help/web-terminal/completion.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
