# Adding devices

This section discusses adding devices in VHQ as well as a demonstrational video showing the process.

## What is adding devices?

VHQ allows you to add devices manually and through file import (batch upload). Devices can be boarded using the following modes:

* **Using VHQ**
  * Configuring an individual device.
  * Configuring a large set of devices using batch upload.
* **Web Services**: Adding devices from external systems.
* **Auto-boarding**: The device registers to VHQ and gets auto-configured through a valid IP address.
