## What is a Device Profile?

A device profile comprises the set of attributes associated with a particular device — device ID, model name, device details, communication history, downloads, change history, and more. It's updated:

* Once every 24 hours during the device's maintenance window.
* Each time a device is rebooted.
* When the VHQ Agent on a device registers with the VHQ server and exchanges keys.
* When you select the **Get Device Profile** diagnostic action, under **Device Management** > **Device Profile** > **Schedule Diagnostic Action**.

*Device Profile* provides a complete set of device information collected directly from the device on a periodic basis.

{% hint style="info" %}
If the device model is Carbon, device information for both the payment device and tablet is displayed on the *Device Profile* screen. If the model is Stand, only that device's information is displayed.
{% endhint %}

| Time Zone | Device time zone. A *Time zone* parameter supports the *Clock Sync Operation*, performed by the SetClockParams under the TerminalAction ActionType. The VHQ server sends a time request in Linux format as part of the Terminal Management plan. Sync happens during the first KEM, the first MHB, device reboot, and device re-registration — the device acknowledges the Set Clock action as Success or Failure. Supported on VOS, VOS2, and Verix. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-us/verifone-hq/device-management/device-profile.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
