# Schedule downloads

This section discusses scheduling downloads from the download library in VHQ.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use this when** you need to schedule a package download to one or more devices.
{% endhint %}

## Schedule a download

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Select the package

In the *Download library* screen, select the package you want to download.

{% hint style="info" %}
From this same screen, you can create a *Reference set* by selecting packages — select the package and click the icon next to **Schedule**.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Click Schedule

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Select devices and configure the job

On the *Scheduled Downloads* screen, search for the devices to schedule the package to.

On the **Schedule** tab, the selected package is listed in the **Selected Packages** pane. Enter a **Job Name** and **Tags** — a default job name is provided, but you can edit it.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set the schedule

The *Select Schedule* pane lists the schedule for the package download and its components (applications and their parameters).
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Guidelines

* Selecting **Package Already Assigned** disables the Selected Packages pane and offers two options:
  * **Software and Parameters**: downloads both the software and parameters of the package.
  * **Only Parameters**: lets you choose between downloading all parameters or only those changed since the last sync.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/support-us/verifone-hq/vhq-software-management/configuring-software-packages/schedule-downloads.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
