# Add a root hierarchy

Use **Root Node** to add a hierarchy directly under the root level.

### Before you start

Prepare the new hierarchy name and entity type.

### Add a root hierarchy

1. Open **Verifone Central** → **Device Management** → **Hierarchy/Group Management** → **Hierarchies**.
2. Select **Actions** → **Update Hierarchy** → **Root Node**.
3. Enter the hierarchy details.
4. Save the new node.

### Result

The new hierarchy is added at the root level.
