# Export Chain of Custody report

Export the current chain of custody report view as a CSV file.

Use this action to export the Chain of Custody report as a CSV file.

### Before you start

Confirm that:

* the current report view shows the records you want to export
* any filters are already applied
* you want the current visible report scope in **CSV** format

Record the active filters before exporting. The CSV reflects the report scope at export time.

### Verify the export

After the file downloads, confirm that:

* the file is in **CSV** format
* the record scope matches the filtered report view
* the file includes the fields you expected for downstream review or sharing

Open the CSV and compare several rows with the report view. Check the serial numbers and custody values that matter to your task.

If the file scope is wrong, return to the report, correct the filters, and export again. Do not use an incorrectly scoped file for a bulk update.

### Result

You have a validated CSV snapshot of the selected custody records.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/verifone-central-getting-started/verifone-central/verifone-central-device-manager/reports/device-management/chain-of-custody-report/export-chain-of-custody-report.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
