# Add/delete parameters

Add or remove parameter entries and instances for one device.

Use **Parameter Management** to add or remove parameters and parameter instances.

### Before you start

Confirm that:

* you opened the correct device and application
* you know whether you need to add a parameter, add an instance, or delete one
* you understand the effect of removing the selected value

Capture the current parameter and instance before removal. Do not delete a value until you confirm the target application and device.

### Open the parameter view

Go to **Verifone Central** → **Device Management** → **Devices** → **View Devices** → **Device Details** → **Details** → **Parameters**.

### Add or delete the entry

1. Select the relevant add or delete icon for the parameter or instance.
2. Enter the parameter details when you add a new value.
3. Confirm the action only after reviewing the selected parameter or instance.

Enter the parameter details and select **Add** to create the new parameter.

A confirmation popup message is displayed saying that the parameters were added successfully.

A confirmation popup message is displayed before deleting the instance.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Deletion removes the selected entry or instance. Stop if you cannot confirm its device, application, and parameter path.
{% endhint %}

### Verify the result

After the action completes, confirm that:

* the new or removed parameter appears correctly in the parameter view
* the change was applied to the intended instance
* any follow-up download scheduling is completed if the device must receive the update
* the device and application still match the intended change scope
* the remaining parameter structure matches the intended configuration

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/verifone-central-getting-started/verifone-central/verifone-central-device-manager/rollouts/parameter-management/add-delete-parameters.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
