# To view/edit basic/advanced parameters for a single device

Review or edit basic and advanced parameters on one device record.

Review or update device parameters from the **Device Details** page.

### Before you start

Confirm that:

* you selected the correct device
* you know which application or parameter set you need to change
* you are ready to save the update and schedule a parameter download if needed
* the selected application version matches the parameter change

### Open device parameters

1. Go to **Verifone Central** → **Device Management** → **Devices**.
2. Open the target device.
3. Go to **Device Details** → **Details** → **Parameters**.

### Parameter levels

Parameter management supports:

* **basic** parameter configuration with two levels
* **advanced** parameter configuration with five levels

{% hint style="info" %}
A warning message is displayed when there is an error in the uploaded VPFX file. Select the **Restore Default** button to revert to the old configuration.
{% endhint %}

### Edit parameters

1. Review the current parameter values.
2. Update the required basic or advanced parameters.
3. Save the changes.

Capture the existing value before changing it. Change only the parameters required for the task. This makes a later review or correction unambiguous.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Stop if the device, application version, or parameter level is unexpected. Review the device record before saving.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
The edited parameters can be scheduled for download using the option sequence **Actions** > **Download Schedule** > **Parameters Only**.
{% endhint %}

### Verify the result

After you save the update, confirm that:

* the new values appear in the parameter view
* the correct application or parameter level was updated
* a **Parameters Only** download is scheduled if the device must receive the change
* the saved value matches the intended value on the correct parameter level
* the device identifier matches the scheduled parameter download

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.verifone.com/verifone-central-getting-started/verifone-central/verifone-central-device-manager/rollouts/parameter-management/to-view-edit-basic-advanced-parameters-for-a-single-device.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
